Accumulation

Last week we were talking about rhetorical devices and trying to pick them out of The Gettysburg Address with some of my 11s.

They were doing well with everything but the idea of accumulation. Nigel was explaining it to them as snippets of the same idea, put together on and on, with the verb at the end. They were still looking pretty blank and all that was running through my head was the idea of millions of different ideas put together, with the verb always at the end.

You know what I came up with? Damn, that sounds mighty like German to me :)
